Reasons Why. Shall We Hear Them? [The Gospel Banner vol. 13 no. 2], 1905 (PDF) by J. W. Peterson see also The Gospel Banner 18 page tract published by the RLDS Church. J. W. Peterson states, "Because the faith of Christ has always been opposed by certain classes, the Latter-day Saints are not above their Master in having their cause misrepresented by both pulpit and press, and themselves frowned upon by those who are ignorant of their faith. Because of this misrepresentation, many persons who have heard or read only the reverse side, often ask themselves the question: 'Is it right to go and hear them?' It is right and honorable to hear any one claiming to have the truth, that one may know for himself whether or not the claim is true and not be dependent on biased rumor."
A Remarkable Dream And Vision [from The Saints' Herald vol. 67], 1920 (PDF) by (author not listed) see also The Saints' Herald 1 page. Account of a vision and dream given in February 1904. He is shown Frederick M. Smith as the new head of the Church who, "insisted upon a higher standard for the priesthood. The first work appeared to be one of cleansing the church. Those of the priesthood who would not come to this higher standard were released. The priesthood took on new energy." He is also shown the Temple and told, "None but the pure in heart can pass the threshold. Those who are purified as though by fire can pass over with safety; but those who have not cleansed their garments and washed them with the blood of the Lamb, those who have not kept their garments free from the blood of this generation, those who are not pure in heart, cannot pass over, as this place of entrance is to such as a consuming fire."
The Restoration Of Israel [The Gospel Banner vol. 4 no. 2 extra A], 1897 (PDF) by S. W. L. Scott see also The Gospel Banner 50 page pamphlet. Brother Scott states, "So I say again the evidences direct and indirect, that cluster around the restoration of the gospel is connected with the restoration of the house of Israel, redeeming them from their long bondage state and inaugurating them into the commonwealth that God purposes to inaugurate them in to and make them the chief of all the kingdoms of the world, and this all is involved in the great work in which you and I are engaged…I repeat, in conclusion, that it seems to me that the only safety that is unavoidable to this crisis, is our adoption in to the family of Abraham by the restoration of the gospel, and ultimately enjoy the blessings of God when that people shall have passed their troubles, and when Christ reigns from the rivers to the ends of the earth, when he whispers peace to the captives and opens the prison doors to them that are bound and lets the captives go free."
Revival Through Evangelism [Audio Sermon], 1958 (mp3) by Arthur A. Oakman 53 minutes sermon by Apostle Arthur Oakman, given at the 1958 RLDS General Conference. He states, "He is our light, indwelt by the glory of the divine love. For all of us share a common humanity, just as every continent is secretly joined beneath the depths of the sea, joined to every island of the sea, is related to and joined to every other part of the earth; so every man in the depths of his personality is joined to every other man."
